Weekend Recap!

Well, we are back to Monday, friends.  This weekend the weather was pretty dreary, but on Saturday I met up with two friends for lunch and shopping.  I hadn't seen either of them in awhile, so it was great to see both of them.  Last weekend, one of my friend's I was meeting announced that she was expecting, so I wanted to celebrate the occasion.  I got her a Willow Tree angel, which I realize are "country" looking, but for some reason I really like them. It's crazy, but two friends last week announced they were expecting.  I think we're entering the baby season.
Saturday night was low key, with a trip with the husband to Trader Joe's and making twice-baked potatoes.  We picked up some tulips at Trader Joe's, and they really brighten up the apartment.
Sunday was also quiet, and I got some cooking and errands done.  I was also really glad to get some work for my grad class completed too.  I did go to the mall for some returns and stopped by C. Wonder with their 40% off sale.  Somehow I resisted, although I really thought about getting this sweater.
The husband was with me, so I also avoided buying these plates and napkins.
How was your weekend?

Birthday Celebrations!

Today's my birthday! I thought I'd share a few photos from this weekend's celebrations when my sister, her boyfriend, and my parents came up to visit.  Celebrating with them really made me feel so loved.

On Friday night, we just visited and it was perfect.  I made an easy salad and some lobster mac and cheese, which is now my go-to dish. My mom brought up cupcakes and these cute plates and napkins.

For lunch on Saturday, the husband picked up BBQ and I made things for an "ice cream bar." I was really tired from the race that morning, so it worked out great.
My parents left that afternoon, so I sent them off with a few chocolates.
On Saturday night, we went out to dinner, and it was fun to get dressed up.
On Sunday, we went to brunch, the Botanical Gardens and the National Art Museum.
I was sad to see my sister leave, but relieved that her flight made it out with all the upcoming snow.  All in all, it was just a great way to begin a new decade!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I hope that you all enjoy the day.  This weekend my sister, her boyfriend, and my parents came to visit me for my birthday.  My sister convinced the husband and I to do a St. Patrick's Day Four Miler with her, so we did that on Saturday morning.  I didn't train for it like I should have, so it was hard on me, but I'm really glad we did it.  Because my sister is fun, she bought leggings for us to wear while we ran.  I wasn't convinced at first, but they really added a lot.

Here's what a hot mess I was after the race. Seriosly, I would not have made it without my sister. She is seriously such a good motivator.
I'll recap the birthday festivities tomorrow, but I just wanted to wish you all a happy St. Patrick's Day!

Recent Sales: C.Wonder

A few weeks ago now, C. Wonder had a sale.  I really like C.Wonder, but to be honest, I really think it's best to buy things after they've been marked down because I don't find the quality of their products to be terribly high.  Nonetheless, I love the designs, so I took this little sale as the opportunity to stock up.

First up, I bought this elephant candle for myself.  I've really liked it for awhile, but it started out as $78!  I ended up getting it 70% off, which is still a splurge.
Second, I couldn't resist to buy more napkins for a little under three dollars!

I bought this cheese board for my friend who loves pineapples.  It was $17, but nicely boxed and would be a nice house welcoming gift.

Apparently, I'm really into cheese boards, because I bought this one too.

I also picked up these earrings. They were a little big more substantial than I was expecting, but still pretty.

I also purchased this cup for the husband's aunt.  I think it will look really cute packaged with some tea or cocoa.
All in all, I did go a little bit overboard, but the way I see it, I helped the husband do a little birthday shopping for me.  I'm in love with some of C. Wonder's new arrivals, but I will be holding out for the next good sale!

Weekend Recaps

So, I kind of stopped blogging for a little while.  I'm coming to to the conclusion that maybe that's just how it is going to be, and that's okay with me.  Two weekends ago, my sister came to visit and we had a great time.  We went shopping in Georgetown (we may have spent the majority of our time at TJ Maxx) and just relaxed.  We were so busy hanging out, that I forgot to take pictures, but I did take a photo of her little welcome basket.
We also went to the Loft and I got this skirt and dress.  I'm loving the neutrals.
This weekend I was dealing with car repairs and just trying to catch up with errands and being lazy.  What have you been up to?
