Weekend Recap: The Outer Banks!

This weekend was hot, so we decided that a beach trip and some pool time would be the most fun!  On Saturday, SC decided to wake up early, but the husband graciously entertained her with some play time at Chick Fil-a and a quick trip to the park.  Then SC and I headed downtown for story time and we even saw part of a parade!  SC was obsessed with the marching bands.  Meanwhile the husband worked on our yard, and I have to say that it seems like things are coming together.  It's amazing what some weeding, mulch, and hard work will do!

That afternoon, we decided to head to the YMCA to check out their pools and splash pad.  It's really close to our house so we've decided to join for the summer, and I have a feeling that SC and I will be frequenting daily.  With the warmer weather it will be great to switch up from the park!
Sunday morning we decided to take SC back to the splash pad and then packed everything up for a little afternoon trip to the Outer Banks.  It's only about an hour and fifteen minutes away from us, but SC isn't a huge fan of the car, so we've been frequenting a closer beach,  However, we haven't been back since our honeymoon, and really thought it would be fun to take a trip down there, so we went for it!  We timed it hoping SC would nap in the car, but that didn't happen.  Nonetheless, we still had a great time at the beach and SC loved dipping her toes in the ocean.  She was so excited to be at the beach!
The water was still pretty cold, so we also spent a decent amount of time just exploring the sand.
Despite the water temperature, it was still a hot day, so we saved the sand dunes for another visit.  One thing we were sure to do though was stop at American Pie for some pizza and ice cream!  We hadn't had it in over six years, but it did not disappoint!  It was really fun to take SC to a place so special to us and hope it's the first of many happy visits!
