Milly Collection for Banana Republic

Have any of you all seen the Milly collection for BR?  I am pretty excited about a few of the pieces, and I think I'm going to try to stop by the store this weekend to see what the pieces actually look right. I love the colors of this dress.
I don't really like the yellow, but I think this dress is interesting.
I also really like this skirt.
I doubt I'll buy any of the pieces, but it's fun to see all the summer colors. I'm afraid this short week has been full of a decent amount of work, but tonight I've had some chance to relax a bit.  The husband and I have been watching the end of the spelling bee, and these words are crazy!

Happy Birthday to my Sister!

Today is my sister's birthday!  She flew in Saturday from Florida, so I was able to celebrate with her and the rest of my family over the weekend.  I'll do another post about all of the celebrations, but right now I want to wish my sister the happiest 28th birthday I can.  She is a year younger than me, but I look up to her, because she has such a sweet, kind heart.  She is always thinking of others and is so self-sacrificing.  It's such a blessing to be her sister, and I'm so thankful that we could spend a little time together this weekend!

Happy Birthday to the Husband!

Today's the husband's birthday today!  As always, we are keeping things low-key, but we will be celebrating with salmon, asparagus and corn on the cob.  (Those are his favorites that I can make). Every day, I'm so thankful that I get to be with him. I rely on his kindness, patience, and good judgement, and I can't imagine going through life without him.

My family and his dad are coming up for Memorial Day weekend, so there are lots of more festivities to come!

Mother's Day Recap!

This Mother's Day was pretty special, as we were able to celebrate with both my parents and mother-in-law.  The weekend was spent visiting and cooking, which was as lot of fun.  Here's the little feast that I made for brunch.
True to my blog post, I made Ina Garten's tri berry muffins, quiche, a french toast casserole and fruit parfaits.  I also learned how to make eggs benedict, since they are my mother-in-law's favorite. The husband really helped me with all the little things, while I was cooking and it was nice to work together as a team. (He was also my guinea pig on Saturday with eggs small risk!).  I was really pleased with how everything turned out, but it was just really great to be together.

We enjoyed opening Mother's Day gifts, sharing memories, and just catching up.
I'm hoping to post a little more regularly soon, but we shall see!  I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Preparing for a Mother's Day Brunch

So, in a twist of lucky happenings, it looks like both my mother and mother-in-law will be with the husband and me for Mother's Day!  Which means I need to come up with a delicious brunch for them.  This is what I'm planning so far:

Mini quiches, because all I have to do is pop them in the oven.
Ina Garten's tri-berry muffins, since I can make them the day before.
Fruit parfaits, because they are easy, delicious and healthy.
And for the main course, I was thinking of the French Toast Casserole.  I've never made it, but I like that it is something you can prepare ahead of time.
Two years ago I tried making raspberry scones and they ended up like muffins.  I also made a strata that was okay, but not super amazing.  Mothers are always gracious, but I'm hoping to redeem myself a little bit this year.  Any brunch foods you love to make?
