The extent of our seasonal decorating

I know that a lot of people enjoy decorating their homes for the fall season, but I'm afraid that we don't really do much because of storage constraints. We did pick up this little pumpkin at Trader Joe's a few weeks ago.  Originally, we were going to get a few more, but then I realized that would mean we would be spending 10 dollars on pumpkins that we had no idea where to put in our apartment.  So, we bought this small one came home with us and I put it on the end table in our living room.

Over the weekend, I also made this little tray.  Originally, I downloaded this image, but then I realized that I didn't really have a place to hang it. I ended up just trimming the edges a bit in putting it in a tray I had from the Container Store that I was no longer using.  It's handy because it can store the remotes or other little odds and ends that happen to collect in our living room.  Even though it will be outdated in a few days, it's fun to have a little something to get into the spirit.  What have you been doing to celebrate fall in your home?

Fall Splurges

It seemed like it took awhile for fall to arrive, and now it is finally here in full force!  I've been enjoying the season with as many things pumpkin as I can.  I love my Yankee Candle scent in pumpkin, and I also bought some pumpkin body wash. Which sound a bit weird, but actually smells delicious.
I also picked up a few new fall clothes. When I went to BR a few weeks ago, I ended up buying this skirt.  It's red/orange, which I usually don't go for, but it was under $25, and I really have been enjoying it.
Especially after I found this scarf at Target.
Have you bought anything for your fall wardrobe lately?  I'm afraid it's my favorite season, and it's hard for me to resist all the cozy clothes!

Some Belated Weekend Recaps

Two weekends ago the husband and I decided to take one last trip to the beach.  We went to Virginia Beach because it's closer than the Outer Banks and we're pretty comfortable with the drive from NoVa. It seems like a million years, after the rain and cooler weather we've been having.  We didn't take a many pictures because we're paranoid about messing up our phone/camera.  But the husband did take this one photo as we were leaving and driving over a bridge.
It's ironic that our two trips to the beach took place during the early fall, but it's when the weather and work schedules cooperated (plus the prices during the off season make it even more appealing).  The husband ended up working on Saturday night and Sunday morning, but we still had a few good hours at the beach.  He also would have had to have worked if we'd stayed home, so I'm glad that we just took the plunge.

We ate dinner at Beach Bully on Saturday night.  I got the grilled tuna and it was really good.  We ended up liking it so much that we went there for Sunday lunch. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it.
Here is the hubby patiently waiting.
And then this weekend I made a pecan pie and headed to my parents' to celebrate my Dad's birthday (last Friday) and my brother's birthday (Tuesday).  My sister flew up, and it was great for us to be together as a family.  There were lots of games of Uno, and we went over to my brother and his wife's house for chili.  His wife was recovering from minor surgery, so it was funny to see my little brother playing the role of the host! He has gotten to be quite the cook!

What's Cooking Wednesday: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

A few weekends ago on a particularly hot Saturday night when the husband and I were having a Game of Thrones marathon, I made some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.  I had meant to make them when the MIL came into town (the husband thinks they are her favorite), but since she changed her mind, I decided to make them anyways.  They are really simple, but the husband is a fan.  Tonight I decided to make them again because I got out of my class early and I had a few eggs that were going to expire soon.  This is an easy recipe, but it's yummy (I think that might have something to do with all the butter).  If you're in the mood for a basic cookie, this is a great recipe!
